Like many of our players, this is Victoria’s first basketball experience, and she has a strong foundation around her. Her dad is an accomplished hooper, her mom plays volleyball, and she has said she wants to go as far as she can. That is a great place to begin, because the first step is that she likes the game. Now the next steps are to learn the game, practice the game, and watch the game. As her understanding grows, her enjoyment and confidence will continue to grow with it.
Victoria has also had support from Mila with her shooting form, which is a positive part of her development. Continuing to build that form the right way will help her progress over time. Along with that, passing, catching, and simple dribbling sequences should become an important part of her decision-making and understanding of what to do on the court.
The biggest thing for Victoria is continuing to stay engaged with the game in different ways—through practice, watching, and learning. She has interest, support, and a desire to improve, and those are important ingredients for growth. If she keeps building her knowledge and skill step by step, she can continue to make strong progress over the second half of the season.
