Desteni is an awesome teammate who does a great job supporting others. I’ve seen her helping Alex and communicating with her, which says a lot about the kind of teammate she is. I’m also really glad that she is asking more questions, because that will continue to support her growth as both an athlete and a leader.
One of Desteni’s strengths is her aggressiveness, especially on the defensive end. That energy and mindset give her a chance to make a real impact for our team. As she continues to develop, a big key on offense will be continuing to work on her overall game so she can contribute with more confidence and consistency.
For the second half of the season, an important focus should be understanding the rules, knowing where to be when she gets into the game, and recognizing the impact she can make in her role. Her role is to hustle, be a great defender, and stay aggressive when she gets opportunities to shoot. Continued work on passing and decision-making will also be a huge plus for her development.
I know she has strong support from her family, which is a big advantage, and I want her to know that I’m available to help as well. Desteni has a lot of positive qualities, and with continued focus and growth, she can make a strong impact for us.
