Black basketball and cone on a dark background

- Mid Season Report -

  • Brooklyn has carried a lot of responsibility for us this season. She has been our leading scorer, rebounder, and passer, which says a great deal about the impact she is making on the court. Many people are surprised to learn that this is her first team basketball experience, because so many of the things she does naturally are skills that usually take players a long time to develop. What stands out most is her feel for the game, which is something many coaches highly value and cannot always teach easily.
  • The next steps in Brooklyn’s development are learning the rules of the game more deeply, understanding situations, and growing her overall awareness. One big key will be continuing to dribble with her head up so she can better see what is developing in front of her and around her. That will help her make even stronger decisions and continue to elevate her impact.
  • Film will also be vital for her growth, and the great thing is that she is already tuned into it. As she keeps watching, she will continue to have those moments where she realizes, “Oh, I didn’t see that,” and that kind of awareness can really speed up development. Along with that, continuing to build strong fundamentals, footwork, and dynamic movement will be very important. Those tools will help her continue to be effective, even against players who may be taller or stronger, and preparing for that now will benefit her greatly down the road.
  • Brooklyn has already shown a tremendous amount of natural ability and responsibility, and as she continues to grow in awareness, fundamentals, and game understanding, her potential is very high.

Hoop. Life. Balance.
